Artist's Description

This work is titled "Waccamaw River Sloop" a sailboat is nestled in a small cove adjacent to a river cabin along the southern part of the Waccamaw River south of Conway South Carolina. The painting was done from sketches and a photo during a recent river outing. The Waccamaw River is such a serene and inspirational place. It is tidal and for the most part slow moving black water and the extensive forest communities cover the Waccamaw floodplain, including cypress-gum swamp and bottom-land hardwood forests. The bottom-land hardwood forests of the Waccamaw are unique in the Carolina's containing abundant Atlantic white cedar and live oaks filled with Spanish moss, along with the more typical laurel and overcup oak and loblolly pine.
