Description
I titled this painting "Jenny Falls" this is not the name of the actual falls, it is one of many located on Little Mud Lick Creek, what is presently Johnson County, Kentucky. Jenny Wiley is my Ancestral Grandmother she was a pioneer women in the later 1700's around 1789-90 she was captured by a band of native Americans, her brother and children at the time were all killed, she survived captivity and escaped. According to my Grandmother's story passed down through generations she escaped while being held in a cavern of a waterfall by letting the water run on the rawhide bindings which loosened them (other story's have her bound to a tree and the rains came and she was able to loosen her bindings) either way she was able to make way her escape down through the creeks and river which was swollen due to heavy rain. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenny_Wiley for more info.
